Frequently asked questions

Why does the ingredient matter so much?

Cups measure volume; grams measure weight. Ingredients pack differently — a cup of sifted flour and a cup of scooped flour can differ by 30 grams or more, which is why serious bakers weigh.

Are these US cups or metric cups?

US cups (236.588 mL). Some countries use a 250 mL metric cup, which shifts results by about 5%.

How accurate are the reference weights?

They are the commonly published standard values (e.g., 125 g for spooned all-purpose flour). Your flour, humidity and technique will move real results — the calculator shows the weight it used so you can judge.
