Days Between Dates Calculator

How many days are there between two dates — really? This calculator counts the total span, breaks it into years, months and days, and separately tallies the business days and weekend days inside the range.

Formula

The count is the difference between the two calendar dates:
Days = End date − Start date
Business and weekend tallies walk the range day by day, classifying each date after the start date through the end date.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the start date.
  2. Enter the end date.
  3. Press Calculate — totals use the standard convention that the start date itself is day zero.

Worked example

From January 1, 2026 to January 31, 2026.

  1. Total span: 30 days.
  2. Weekend days in the range (Jan 2–31): 9.
  3. Business days: 30 − 9 = 21.

Result: 30 total days — 21 business days and 9 weekend days.

Frequently asked questions

Should the start date itself be counted?

The standard “days between” convention counts elapsed days, so the start date is day 0 and the end date is not double-counted. If you need an inclusive count of days (both endpoints), add 1 to the total.

What counts as a business day here?

Monday through Friday. Holidays are not excluded (they vary by country and employer); the Court Date and Lead Time calculators handle holiday-aware business counting where that applies.

Why is a “month” not a fixed number of days?

Calendar months run 28–31 days, so the years/months/days breakdown uses the real calendar rather than a 30-day approximation.
